This article documents my experience in taking AZ204 and AZ400 exams online in 2021.

Microsoft partners with Pearson VUE to deliver online exams to your home or office. Some information in this article came from Microsoft/Pearon VUE websites and emails and could be different in the future.

Sign up for an online exam

  1. Read About online exams with Pearson VUE carefully before you took the exam.
  2. To choose the certification and view the exam status, log in to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/dashboard.aspx
  3. Schedule an exam.
  4. There will be plenty of date options for you to choose from.
  5. Pay for the exam.
  6. Test your camera and equipment before exams.

Acceptable forms of ID include: Passport, Driver’s license, Military ID (including spouse and dependents), Identification card (national or local), Registration card (green card, permanent residence, visa)

On exam day

Log into your account 30 minutes early to start the check-in process.

If you are more than 15 minutes late after your scheduled exam time, you will be unable to begin your exam and you are unlikely to receive a refund.

  • Other rules:

Prepare your testing space:

• Find a quiet, disruption-free, well-lit space. Please be aware that background light or the sun rising/setting could create visibility issues for the proctor.

•You will be required to take four photos of your testing space during check-in. We recommend using a mobile device.

•You can only use one monitor.

•Your desk should be clear.

Your testing environment (Room and desks) will be heavily restricted. Even having unrelated books or stuff on your bookshelves is not permitted. At last, I have to move to a completely empty coffee table, not able to use my desks.

During online exams, there will be a live proctor monitoring the entire process (you cannot see him, but he/she will communicate with you via messages). The proctor will constantly monitor your gaze and movements to ensure that you do not leave the screen to cheat.
